I was listening to the new Mo20C podcast and apparently the 5th Republic is based on the central premise of promising the "good life" to everyone no matter what class they are. Everyone is unhappy because that standard of living is no longer possible for various reasons not least of which being the incredible amount of taxes they pay. Reminds me of our equivalent, "the American dream."

Seems typically vague and french. The dream is just that a dream. It's not a guarantee nor is it reality for most. If the sewers work and the electricity is on it's s good day. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

I am all for increasing taxes on the rich while increasing meaningful welfare that gets people back on their feet and off welfare. Hell, I am for paying people to go to college or trade school to retrain.
