Anyone want to guess the correlation coefficient between people who believe "Every should get a trophy, simply for participating" and "Anyone who works 40 hours a week should be able to raise a family on their income"?

Behold, the rise of the "minimal effort" culture warriors. If they made the most modest of efforts, they're entitled to the greatest of rewards.

Full time workers should be able to afford having children. If it is the case that a state's own labor pool cannot afford to reproduce, it is a failure of the state and a failure of whatever ideology supposes this to be a natural occurrence.

The consequence of this viewpoint is "Anyone who needs an income that is not sufficient to raise children should have no full time employment".
Every full time job that needs doing isn't a "raise family" income job.
That doesn't give you the right to destroy those jobs for anyone who might still benefit from them.

I dont find the labor market to be something set in stone. If it can accommodate my demographic replacements for a lower wage but not a wage that allows for a standard of living so low as to even reproduce than it is a shibboleth and must be abolished.

Two quick observations:

• Employers don't owe anyone a family-raising wage simply because they have work they're willing to hire out.

• You weren't elected to decide who is allowed to offer what wage for which jobs, and neither was the government.

Perhaps not. I dont find employers to be law givers either. Quite frequently they are in it for themselves and could give two figs for any productive citizen that they would suck the life force from to pad their own coffers. And for what? A condo in Costa. No, we do not have elected officials that would dare stand in their way. The time for this has passed.

Employers just want to operate. You could be an employer one day. Maybe you come into some money and want to hire a little help with some really mundane, push-button type work. Something that a retired person of highschool kid could do. You decide to hire someone full time who needs a little extra spending cash.

YOU'RE NOT PAYING ENOUGH FOR THAT PERSON TO RAISE KIDS.

How does that benefit anyone, rather than simply cutting the retiree and high-schooler out of the labor market?
