Our constitution has an impeachment process. Our legislative branch has a lot of technical power to hold the other branches accountable, if there is the will to do so.

Still, I am not sure how getting rid of consumer protections agencies would limit the power of the supreme court. I mean, packing the court would diminish the power of particular nominations, but that is usually seen as a pretty unpopular move.

In a society that values rule of law, jurists are going to have a good amount of clout. What are ya gonna do?
Kritarchy is an effeminate form of government with only one ancient precedent that took place in judea. The founding fathers really fucked up when they nailed the windows shut and illegally rammed through the constitution, throwing the baby out with the bath water.

As for consumer protection agencies, we need them obviously. We also need them to quit being corrupt. I dont have an argument I just wanted to point out that SCOTUS is an abomination.
Perhaps they would have come up with the perfect government on the first try if they hadn't been Jew-cucked out of their masculinity, or something. We'll never know, I guess.
But, in our system, we aren't actually 'ruled' by judges. There is plenty that could be done to restrain the court, and maybe the will to do it will present itself over the next few decades. Loads o' faggot, low-info progressive libtards are already on the 'eliminate lifetime appointments' bus, after figuring out that every judge wasn't going to be RBG or Warren.

It is a good thing we have an effeminate, adaptable system of government, since no one can predict the future.

We sure as shit are ruled by judges. What planet do you think you live in?

Can we have a Convention please? Then we might not be ruled by judges.

I live on the planet where even the highest court appointees have to be nominated and vetted by elected representatives, who also have the authority to remove said appointees (little used, though it is). It is also the planet where every citizen has a right to a jury, and isn't required to appear before secret tribunals.

I expect if the cloak of non-partisanship keeps getting pulled back, we will see elected officials being encouraged to exercise their oversight authority even more. Then, of course, we will hear all the 'democracy is terrible, people are dumb dumbs' talk. There is will always be someone fit to bitch in a pluralist system, sort of by design.

We all have the great advantage of being born in a time an place that is ruled by law.
Being ruled by judges would look very different.

Fuckin' malcontents 'round here... jeez, you'd think we already lived under sharia, like poor Monte.

Yeah I was oppressed by the Muslim co-producer who turned up his nose at the lovely crispy bacon I prepared this morning for breakfast.
I'll get my own back tomorrow lunchtime though when I make pork loin in cider and mustard and the fucker has to eat the vegetarian option.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

So the people of a state like California vote to protect the actual definition of marriage, unelected and unaccountable judges say FUCK YOU, and that's the rule of law.

Given a good luck at the world, I'm surprised anything works at all.

You guys may be a glass half full kind of person, I'm just continually surprised it doesn't fall apart. Wtf hold it together? If it's awful, up and down, if it's as full of corruption and inefficiency, it should fall apart already. But it hasn't yet. Why? Is it because of the furious turning of the wheel, (I don't see that) is it some people frantically bailing so the ship doesn't sink? I don't think it's that either.

The more I look at the American Republic, I think it's the preservation of adversarial "combat" that keeps it all together. Who better to fight for your rights, than you? Who better to advocate for your interests, than you?

It is the results of those fights that make up our Republic, as long as those fights are fair, may the best man or woman win. Ours isn't a "wait til Caesar comes" system, it's a knock down drag out, ruin people's lives, system and may the best fighters win.

It's a "I'm working, day and night, so that you spend the rest of your life working at wal-mart system." Mutual respect, tradition, civility? Nope.
Thy praise or dispraise is to me alike:
One doth not stroke me, nor the other strike.
