My FIL distils a lot. His rig is not even that fancy. He just uses kegs with the tops cut off that have a large inverted funnel with a tube hanging off.
Regarding the mash, he has those large blue barrels and fills them with corn or rice and water and tosses in these brewers yeast balls. I could find out amounts and proportions if asked. Anyway, the stuff could peel paint.
Yeah, making turpentine is great until you have to drink it. I've been looking at a punch of Plum brandy recipes and many of them aren't really distilled brandy. It's fermented plums, sweetened up with actual Brandy.
