Anyone out there done any distilling ?

My FIL distils a lot. His rig is not even that fancy. He just uses kegs with the tops cut off that have a large inverted funnel with a tube hanging off.

Regarding the mash, he has those large blue barrels and fills them with corn or rice and water and tosses in these brewers yeast balls. I could find out amounts and proportions if asked. Anyway, the stuff could peel paint.
Thanks. I guess I wouldn't mind finding out some ratios. I was actually thinking of using the giant turkey fryer set up, and then making the funnel and cooling tower out of copper plumbing. I can sweat copper. Pretty sure I could make a funnel.

Yeah, making turpentine is great until you have to drink it. I've been looking at a punch of Plum brandy recipes and many of them aren't really distilled brandy. It's fermented plums, sweetened up with actual Brandy.

Making bread is hard though, or rather, it takes a long time, it's tedious and messy. It's not all that cost effective either.

Damn tasty though.

Much easier than I expected. Takes a massive amount of wheat though.

Just gotta make a starter, let is rise, mix all the shit, knead it, let is rise, and cook it. It's kind of a pain. And clean up the flour that gets fuckin everywhere.

Here in the land of biscuits from scratch at every meal, folks talkin' about the struggles of baking bread look a might funny.

Once you make it a habit you can knock it out in a few minutes.

Besides, there's always a thing here or there you're wasting time on that you stand to cut back on.

Like this here.

Now I gotta go make biscuits.
