Snowden at least is coherent and displays logical thinking and intelligence. Truth is Bradley Manning has likely always been a mentally troubled dude with gender dysphoria and a serious victim complex that was exacerbated by his mother who had a history of mental illness.
Should have never been in the Army, but he signed his name and raised his hand. Then he committed treason.

Why do so many hang their arguments on such a fucked up person ?
Because he may not have been that fucked up before he was kept in solitary for months, or god knows what else.

He made it through the training, and was an actual soldier. That says something about who he was - or so I’m told by other soldiers.

Given the depths of depravity that I’ve witnessed the system going to, in order to keep the war machine going, I’m not willing to dismiss him out of hand. More than that, I give him the benefit of the doubt, simply because the MIC freaked the fuck out over it.

I only know what I've read about Manning, and it paints a picture of someone who should have never been in the military. When he entered service, the Army was experiencing serious man power shortages and had lowered the standards for enlistment. At that time they sent me a guy who was literally mentally incompetent, and he made it through training. The guy had been hit by a car while on a bicycle and it scrambled his network, it was nothing but blue screen of death up there. I had his family come to me asking to release him, I felt for them. I eventually got him out through the help of a Chaplain. But that was the Army from about 2007 - 2010.

Manning made it through training, he had a chance at serving honorably, but he didn't.
And that's the poster boy you want to stand behind ?

Not really. Snowden is the real hero.

I just give Manning the benefit of the doubt. In the end, it was all swept under the rug anyway.

BTW Manning just ran for political office and got crushed.

Anyway, back to the Deep State........ Don't know if it's all true, but it seems to work

What's certain is that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

What's certain is that Manning was another welfare hire who joined the army because he couldn't hack it in real life.

What's certain is that Manning fell for the same nihilistic horseshit that infects your brain, leading him to expose classified information specifically because he wanted to hurt his own nation, his words.

You're shooting your mouth off yet again about a topic that you know fuck all about.

Manning was a fucking nut case before he joined. Everyone knew it. His father knew it. If you weren't so fucking ignorant always you'd know this all came out years ago, and you're the only one here who thinks there's anything left to speculate on.

“He knew that the video depicted a 2007 attack,” Coombs said of the “Collateral Murder” recording. “He knew that it [the attack] resulted in the death of two journalists. And because it resulted in the death of two journalists it had received worldwide attention. He knew that the organization Reuters had requested a copy of the video in FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] because it was their two journalists that were killed, and they wanted to have that copy in order to find out what had happened and to ensure that it didn’t happen again. He knew that the United States had responded to that FOIA request almost two years later indicating what they could find and, notably, not the video.
dude was a troubled kid that witnessed first hand the horrors of war and saw the government lie about it (go figure), you all act like this is a treason slam dunk when it isnt. i too think he was reckless and sloppy and he was lucky he didn't do any real harm because he certainly could have, but im capable of empathizing with him because in my opinion, the wars in iraq and afghanistan were huge fucking mistakes that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, if not more

no war crimes here LOL just near a million dead iraqis, all good

Even a billion dead isn't a war crime. You two should stop using that term until you can figure out what it means.

It is a treason slam dunk. He knew the information was classified, and he released it because he wanted to hurt the US. Those are his words. That's treason. Put him up against a wall.

It's not even an argument of how not hard it is, but instead how easy it is.

The nine week basic training Manning went through was easier than......a mild downhill walk.
