What if social services cannot take on millions of new clients unless taxes go way up? Is it fair to make Middle America pay for the poor of other countries?

Obviously not. But that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. These would be members of OUR country. And they aren't welfare cases. They're not welfare class? So they're going to be above the poverty line the instant we grant them citizenship? And making the world's poor American Citizens is not the same as making the middle class pay for the world's poor because they're now citizens? That's your argument?

You're making the argument that we can't accept more citizens, because our own welfare system is too fucked up, and will force us to support them. Change the welfare system then, if you don't like it.Change it how?

You're still arguing to Extremis. Nobody has proposed taking in all of the world's poor.

Tighten the restrictions on welfare, if you feel it's justified. Raise the minimum wage above the poverty line. Pretty simple stuff, really.

I never proposed "open borders". This should be pretty simple for anyone to grasp, I'm not sure why you're struggling with it.
