Look - I don't like a standing Army as much as the next red blooded American....but warfare has changed...modern mechanized war machines require professionals to operate them safely...want to close OCONUS bases? I'm right behind you....what to reduce infantry...sure....but tankers, pilots, sub mariners....? ehh...not so crazy about that.

Close the OCONUS bases....and stop making carriers...they're obsolete...but we need tanks, helos, transports, troop carriers....and the ability to deploy if need be....

Tanks are useless. Helos and transports are a good idea, but we have the interstate system to handle most needs.
