The United States Army is actively punishing any soldier who chooses to leave active duty rather than reenlist, because of the hemorrhage of troops, and you wonder what problems you might face?

You see why I say we need a draft? Civilians don't have a fucking clue.

You don't have an army any more. They gave up on you.

How many decades of this did you think they would tolerate? Endless war with fucking zero sacrifice from the rest of society. The only, I repeat, the fucking only time in this entire goat fucked debacle, that the public showed any interest in signing up was when the economy collapsed and they needed a way out of their student loan debt.

Remember those headlines years back about the suicide epidemic in the ranks? Of course you don't. Do you know what caused it? Fucking hell no you don't.

Of course you tell yourselves it was the cost of war wearing down the force, but that would be complete horseshit. Combat veterans weren't offing themselves. It was cherries. Never deployed. Never wounded. Never fired a shot in anger.

It was the gender studies majors who joined up only because the economy collapsed right when they thought they were about to cash in. They took on mountains of college debt but found out it was all for naught, right as the economic collapse drove them into the arms of a military they would have never considered joining before. College loan forgiveness suddenly became a big selling point for new recruits.

Once the reality of their situation set it, they started killing themselves in record numbers as the soldiers around them who had been actually fighting in wars since 2001 watched them go. I was right there watching it happen, and I was right here telling you all about it. Obligatory studies aimed at finding the cause found the exact same answer.

So here you are now. You had nearly two decades of constant war creating the most field experienced combat force the United States has ever had, and they decided they had had enough.

I don't know how I can make it more clear than I have by posting monthly promotions. Promotion points have been rock bottom for over two years.

For those who don't know, here's how it works. When the army wants promotions, points go down. When the army doesn't need promotions, points go up. When promotion points stay at 40 for two years, and no one is promoted, and the army strips soldiers of benefits for getting out, they have run out of willing leaders. No one wants to be your soldiers anymore.

If you can't figure out why it is a very bad thing that your army doesn't want to be your army anymore, you don't deserve an army.

When I brought this up on the old DCF I got all kinds of backlash. Turns out I was right. You're on your own now.

I guess the only solace anyone can take from all of this is that there is an enormous population of former soldiers out there who are the most experienced counter insurgency troops in American history, and they know everything there is to know about running an effective insurgency.

From my personal experience - at least 10+ years ago - most women at the Zoo, and in SOCOM (non-operators) were competent...don't know about the squids...

Most "frail" women (and dudes) couldn't hack the academics and flunked out...the fitness tests we're always bullshit though...women got an unfair advantage in the scoring which gave them a slight class rank advantage.

The enlisted chicks, however, were more likely to be POSs...
Maybe that's just me being an elitist asshole...but just seemed like the enlisted chicks, particularly in Big Air Force, were always 30-50lbs overweight...Guessing the recruiters had to make quota.

BTW - If Hudson High didn't discharge that Pinko Commie Bastard....no one would donate to the endowment... Does show that the Commies are still at work infiltrating American institutions....

To the larger point here....I have noticed a major increase in people getting out of SOCOM (in particular many operators) who are over the 10 yr mark...

Don’t need them. I need somebody to man the missile silos and boomer subs, and that’s about it.

Bye Felicia.

Odds of the US army being used for any sort of domestic defense - 1,000,000 : 1
Odds of the US army being used for foreign corporate wars - 1 : 1

I see no downside here.

Honestly, this is the same as our former discussion about the surface navy. There is absolutely no reason to have it. It's a trillion-dollar jobs program, and the worst example of government waste.

INb4 we hear that patriotism = support of the MIC

What on earth would they accomplish with a fighter jet, unless it's dropping nukes?

MAD is the only military policy that matters anymore.

Right - so if a rogue PRC pilot decides he wants to bomb the coast of Alaska, we're going to Nuke all of China....
