Toyota has been the #1 Japanese manufacturer in the US for many years, and the only one to really challenge the top US brands such as Chevrolet and Ford. That said, it suffered a further drop during the late 2000s crisis than most of its competitors, seeing its sales fall from over 2m/year in 2006 to only 1.3m/year in 2011. However, it has rebounded strongly since, and in 2015 is on course to beat its 2006 sales record.

PLANO, Texas (Jan. 16, 2018) – In 2017, Toyota built 1,983,723 vehicles at its North American vehicle assembly plants. Production volume was down slightly from the previous year total of 2,124,608 vehicles.
Toyota’s total vehicle production in North America since 1986 has reached nearly 32 million. Key drivers of this year’s production include low fuel prices, continued stability in the overall economy and strong customer demand for trucks and SUVs.

The brain drain of rural America is due to jobs not being in those parts of the country anymore not immigration. You can't support a family (or just pay rent by yourself) with a minimum wage job. People have to move out and the ones who stay are usually older folks who had a decent job for decades and/or are retired. Not to say that everyone who stays in their podunk town is going to have an IQ below 70 but honestly, if you can move out, then move out. Honestly, though this has been sort of true throughout history. If you are not going to find lots of work on your farm/local village and/or find a way to support a family, it's better to move out and settle in a bigger place with more opportunity.kybkh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 18, 2018 11:51 amSo you think contributing to Central America's spiraling out of control by encouraging their best and brightest to migrate he is a net win for our society?jediuser598 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 18, 2018 9:51 amI'm not shit posting. You already see the results of local brain drain in rural America.
Overall, immigration may be the only way these parts of rural America will survive at all in the future.

Hard to leave family behind, even harder to move if you have kids. Making babies in early twenties isn't uncommon. Trying to uproot people is exceptionally hard, even if it's demonstrably better somewhere else. I don't fault immigrants for economic immigration. I did it, except from one state to another. Lots of us did.Penner wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 5:15 pmThe brain drain of rural America is due to jobs not being in those parts of the country anymore not immigration. Yeah, that happens all the time. Literally, almost everyone that I know either left my local area at some point (but some did come back later) and/or they left for good. The honest answer is that there is literally no more opportunity in rural America. It is very hard but it becomes a matter of survival.jediuser598 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 5:41 pmHard to leave family behind, even harder to move if you have kids. You need money to homestead and most people don't have money nor land.

And the taxes?
