Jeez guys it's pretty simple. The school has written rules about school uniforms. The rules allow only trousers or skirts.
The school can't discriminate when it comes to enforcement of the rules so they say that boys can wear skirts.
This same policy has led to boys in other schools wearing skirts as a protest in order to change the rules to include shorts.
The last thing a school wants is to have all the boys turn up in skirts .
This is about not allowing shorts and has nothing to do with feminizing boys by making them wear skirts.

How is it working out, trying to lower violent crime by banning certain physical objects? We have the same stupidity going on here in Sweden so I already know the answer.
We recently had a mushroom picker sentenced for possessing a knife after she tried to break up a fight between some drunks on her way home from a friend. The knife was still in her purse from their forest trip earlier on the day. The drunken fighters got away, police couldn't be bothered, but she had to be fined, get her knife confiscated, and now has a record.

But the ban-happy laws aren't what made the crime rate low.

Norway had a equally low crime rate before the nineties, before all those crazy laws banning anything and everything. You could buy a shotgun just as easily as you could buy a beer. And it was still one of the safest countries in the world.
