Not just religious test it is a test of artist vs public accommodation test. Thomas is demonstrating that in these instances you aren't buying just a cake, you buying his artistic services.
Not sure how closing on Sundays and refusing to bake Halloween cakes is related to artistry. It sounds like it was used to determine his religiousness.
Closing on Sunday and not participating in Halloween is irrelevant. You've hit on the fundamental weakness of Thomas' opinion (which is nothing more than an editorial IRL). Do you see how?

Why do you think he found it relevant enough to discuss it?

The whole thing was an attack on White straight males cloaked as an attack on "conservative Christians" which in America is the same thing.

They shopped around Colorado of all states to find the one Baker that didnt have what they needed on hand and was unwilling to bake it. Ergo, the key is to have everything on hand in order to operate in clownworld of course.

But it gets worse. Part of the problem was that unelected officials started musing about how this would "strike a blow against the evil conservatives." Implying gay marriage in and of itself wasn't meant to strike a blow against "conservatives" ie normal Americans. And then when the ruling is handed out they stress that this can't be done to maliciously marginalize people's faith. Because it was that fucking clear that that was what they were openly on record talking about. So as soon as a guy refuses to bake a cake without anti-faggot imagery in it he loses the case. Why? Because they let the mask slip. This was an attack on societal norms and an erosion of public trust the whole fucking time. Something most degenerates readily rally around. Problem is they long marched all the way to the finish line.

More people free of government coerced speech.
“Ewww.”

Wait ... what?

That seems to open the door for more business owners having to be subjected to religious conviction tests.
You think it would be good for judges to administer religious conviction tests?
They already do for a lot of things.

Now I'm off to find out where else this case is being discussed.

Oh, it's extremely relevant to Thomas, and should be to all of us. What I'm calling its fundamental weakness is the failure to address the real foundation for understanding the dispute, property rights (from which all other rights derive).

Dave Smith does a good QRD in the first half of this episode: https://art19.com/shows/part-of-the-pro ... de8a47cd34

And cray Unca Ron hits at it pretty good here:

Ok. Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation.

Peter Schiff kicked some ass on the topic also yesterday. Tom Woods has promised a breakdown on his episode today.
