More like "Money was used in an illegal way." There is nothing in Title 14 that grants the government to use SSI money for anything except SSI. That is theft.

Do you understand the game of buying Federal bonds with SS funds, then spending the bond money while also saying “the money will be there with interest when the bond matures ... probably”? Because the US government isn’t stealing when it spends money used to purchase US bonds. China would let you know.

I’m not saying anything the government does is cool, I’m simply saying your feelings and lack of knowledge don’t amount to a breach of law.

Except that buying the bonds gives government more money to spend on non SSI activities, which gives them a false sense of available funds. Now when SSI goes to cash that bond, the government has to borrow even more money to pay it back. So, it's a net loss, not a net gain, hence, wasted funds.
