Well, SS is a plan whereby the government takes directly from the productivity of the current generation to pay for the benefits of the retired generation. In that way, I’m sure glad there’s waaaay more millennials than Gen Xers. Of course, when I look past raw population numbers and at the actual productivity of millennials, I’m like “we’re fucked”.

I'm aware how it works. The extra was never supposed to go to other spending. It was always supposed to be earmarked for one specific purpose. I've given SSI over $30K, just in the last 10 years. I don't know what my lifetime total is, but it's a lot.

"Hey, give us all this money while you work and you'll get it back when you retire." That is the government telling us that. Sure, they lied, but that's why I call it theft. If my kid takes money I gave him for shoes and spends it on drugs, he stole my money. You disagree?
