Love that cooker. I've got a more modern woodburning range in the house in France. It's kept running 24/7 when I'm there in the winter to keep the place warm. You do a lot more baking when the oven is always hot.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I suspect you’re baked most the time, regardless of your ovens temperature.

That Monarch stove is amazingly easy to cook on, though it keeps you hopping.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 8:43 amLove that cooker. The fire box is on the left, then the smoke and heat have to travel from Left to Right under the cook top, then circles back to the chimney. There is damper to control how much heat you let pass below the burners. That's your temp control. The box on the far right is a water reservoir for hot water. Warmers up top.

Remote location, 99 year lease, renewed in the 80s, been in the family since the '40s.GrumpyCatFace wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 9:36 am

It was Granpa that got it going, my uncle is the owner of the lease now. We get up there every once in a while for a little hunting, fishing or 'Maintenance".
No electricity, cell service or running water, so it really keeps the undesirables out.

I like the plate warmers. Mine works the same, incredibly quick to heat up. You can boil a kettle from a cold stove in about half an hour.
