I was told that we have absolute power over our government, thanks to millions of small arms.
Who told you that?

Because all I remember is people endlessly trying to explain to you that the government cannot have absolute control over the people thanks to millions of small arms..

It's neither supposed to be self-governed or only a mockery of self-government as our cou try has become. They have a monarch. She is the sovereign. Do try to understand what that means.
A powerless monarch is no better than a feckless Congress. Probably better, actually.

Regardless, despite whatever pomp and circumstance they display, the monarch has effectively abdicated, and Britain is under the domain of Parliament.
A monarch with limited power is certainly better than a feckless Congress stuffed full of career politicians and divided by party lines.

Where it all falls down is when you get a bad monarch and you are stuck with them till they die.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Both are terrible options.

We get stuck with 400+ bad congresspeople until they die.

Literally one of the few places that Americans can actually start the process of change. Yet, 90% re-election rate for a Congress with a 9% approval rating. We're so smart.
Why are all the Gods such vicious cunts? Where's the God of tits and wine?

Yeah, I have no explanation for that, other than party manipulation, or gibs. Both are rather depressing options.

We are a short-sighted people. When the price of gas goes up, all of a sudden everyone needs fuel efficient vehicles. Gas goes down, bring on the SUVs. That's nutz.

Corporations put next quarter over next decade; planning wise. It's everywhere in our culture.

There's a saying - The Chinese plan for the next century while Americans plan lunch. There's some truth to that.

Yep. My money's on the Chinese.

I'm not teaching the kids Mandarin yet, in hopes that China will adopt the international trade language.

Mandarin is unlikely to become a lingua franca due to tonality.

Really, the best lingua franca would be Spanish.
