Why do you assume I don't? You think I'm an idiot who gets all my nutrients from canned corn?

Huh?

There's no chance this wouldn't cost boat loads more than what we already do, and also it won't be effective.

As to local and community stuff. Such is great... but it has to come from the community.

Federal forced "community" farms... are starving soviets....

I heard about this earlier today and I am still feeling like this isn't a 100% better idea of what we have now. I mean now, we have a system where people pretty much are allowed a certain amount of money to take to their local grocer and to buy the foods that they need. Sure, they are banned from using that money to buy certain foods/drinks (like alcohol) but I really worried that this program's "food boxes" will contain foods with really no nutritional value at all.

Its the consumers that demand no nutritional value.

You can get good food for cheap. Poor people don't want it.

They want a cheeseburger more than a salad.

The red bell pepper for that awful salmon I have to eat tomorrow cost me 1.87 at Wallyworld.

Bell pepper prices are like crack prices now.

When you think about it, I should have the option of giving up fish on Ash Wednesday and Lenten Fridays. I almost never eat fish, so giving fish up is the greater sacrifice. If I had to give up fish for Lent, I might not eat a single piece of fish that whole season.

Nailed it.

Doesn't the government recognized ketchup as a veggie because it's made from tomatoes?

They act like corn is a vegetable instead of a grain as well. It has more to do with propping up big agra.
