Looks like they were playing a little fast and loose.

Evergreen College owned ship crewed by "graduates" who refused to pay attention to colonial patriarchal white supremacist sonar, maps, etc, trying to tell them how to pilot the ship. Ship runs aground, it's obviously because of racism.

It was being navigated by the two pilots on board not the ship's crew.
It's not yet known whether it got stuck as a result of human error, high winds or mechanical failure. For those who enjoy a good conspiracy theory you can't rule out sabotage, possibly by Iran.
Really though, it's all speculation until more details are known.
It's in the ship owners interests to blame the high winds as they could be held liable for the costs incurred by all those ships which are being delayed and even those waiting for cargoes.
no need for sabotage, the Suez Canal is simply old

the new ships are so big, they barely fit through it, it's a game of inches at the best of times
Also, if it was sabotage they wouldn't have just wedged it across the canal they would have sunk it too.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

A few dozen mines dropped by an Iranian plane would do the same trick.
If the US did ever start a war with Iran I suspect the canal would be the first Iranian target.

Egypt themselves blocked it for 8 years after the 6 day war in '67.

no, that would be detected, there is no air traffic in there which is not being closely observed

you're not getting past the combined Egyptian & Israeli air forces

the way to do it would be to emplace a mine with a timer fuse on the ship in port prior to it entering the Canal

just sail past in a yacht, drop over the side, swim up and place the mine, swim back to the yacht

Or just drop smart mines off the back of a cargo vessel.

also will be detected, not getting past the Egyptian & Israeli navies, they are watching for that too

in terms of interstate war, military action, you would mine the approaches rather than the Canal itself

in the case of Iran, they would more likely mine the Straits of Djibouti by way of Yemen

When was the last time the suez was blocked?
Yom Kippur War 1973

Egypt reopened the canal in 1975
Whyd we allow it to do that then and what did it do to shipping cost and the economy.

well first of all it was the Cold War and Egypt was backed by the Soviet Union, so it was behind the Iron Curtain

at the time, America was not reliant on shipping through the Suez, China was still behind the Bamboo Curtain
