If I may speak for the art snobs - this isn't true. Getting the job done on time, efficiently, and under budget is something universally appreciated. There is a definite artistry to craft, and a craftsmanship to art.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 8:59 amI agree but the Art snobs wouldn't. To keep art in its own category outside of craftsmen is why I call people who do all of the imagination themselves "artists."C-Mag wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 8:52 amLots of metrosexual douche bags call themselves artisans for selling you less for more and putting a bow on top.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 7:52 am
Craftsmen are indeed artists. Thus the label of ‘artisan’.
The artistry of craftsmanship is often in the work. No wasted moves, and being able to produce premium work with average tools or materials.
J.S. Bach was a workhorse, cranking out big production cantatas for the church, chamber music for princelings, and counterpoint tone games in his spare time that are not only fun to listen to, but worthy of close attention and study.
