Another Perspective on "Free" Trade

Post by Martin Hash » Fri Nov 13, 2015 1:46 pm

1. Half the population is incompetent to live in modern society but most of them obviously don't think so. Hence, Minimum Wage arguments about how much serving hamburgers is worth, and high-paying union jobs that could be done by monkeys.
2. There are a shitload of people in this category, all self-righteous & certain in their convictions of their worth, and nothing anybody says is going to change their mind. Whatever leverage they get, they'll use: think Teacher's Unions.
3. Outsourcing & "Free" Trade breaks the uncompromising unions in the U.S.
4. A Trade deficit is America giving the World nothing & them giving us something tangible. Similarly, selling U.S. Treasuries to the World is giving them nothing.
5. Putting incompetent folks on Welfare keeps them out of everyone's hair, and as long as the rest of the World is financing it, what do I care? There's also a huge group of "National Dividend" people who would go on the dole in an instant, keeping them out of unions & otherwise gumming up productive people's lives.
6. As long as the American military hegemony can make the rest of the World pay for our extravagance, why shouldn't we? Hell the whole thing's going down the shithole due to Climate Change in a few decades anyhow.
