One of our traditions of Christmas is to get a picture with Santa. Judging by the length of the line at the mall, that seems to be a lot of people’s tradition, even though it costs $40! Luckily, there’s other options, usually by events trying to attract customers. My wife, Gwynne, and I went to a very small bazaar at the RV Convention Center just to get a picture with Santa. We weren’t there very long, but while there, we were the only ones taking advantage of the opportunity. Feeling awkward, I offered to buy Gwynne some homemade soap from one of the vendors for a stocking stuffer but she said it makes her skin break out so we left without spending any money. As we were driving away I regretted we hadn’t left a tip for Santa and his helper.
Later in the week while our granddaughter, Nico, was visiting, we went to the NWNut to get a picture with Santa. Uniquely, Santa and his helper were situation inside a large teepee, where we’ve gone several years in a row. This time the there was a 45-minute line standing outside, much longer than last year but at least there was no rain. Gwynne & Nico spent the time looking at the Christmas decorations, and drinking free hot chocolate. (Nico isn’t supposed to have sugar so we need to keep that secret.) This time we had specifically brought money for tips but after we’d gotten out through the traffic, we remembered that we’d forgot to give them. I’m pretty sure Santa isn’t going to give me a gift this year.
