It's a real problem. Farming needs serious attention, as a society we should sharply separate family farms and industrial agriculture. VDH has railed for years about the virtues of the Yeoman farmer. And he's right.

The subsidies were intended to protect the yeoman farmer but like everything else, modern inheritance allows what used to be little farms to consolidate into conglomerates.

Family farms didn’t turn into industrial ag, that’s just silly. They were bought up and destroyed, just like craftsmen during the Industrial Revolution, or small town shops in the age of Walmart.

If you want to redistribute inheritances over a billion or something, that makes sense, as a temporary remedy to a fucked legal system, but for middle/lower-class America, that’s the only leg up they’re ever going to get.
