Imagine what it will be like if the Internet goes down due to war or catastrophe. There’s at least 2 generations that won’t be able to function: they will shamble around like zombies.

Yep.
Widespread loss electricity or internet for an extended period would be catastrophic to this country. This is why an EMP is a nation killer. Two generations would really be fucked, but all of us would be fucked.

There simply are not enough people that can operate without the internet. If the internet goes down, it's a cascade failure of all systems. No gas, no electricity, no water, sewage backing up, no functioning hospitals, food rots, grocery stores and wharehouses raided, anarchy in 72 hours.

That's the logical result. Zombies will be everywhere, and maybe worse the functioning insane will be off their mood stabilizing meds. All those purple haired harpies that are insufferable now, will be violently insane when they are cut off from the system and their meds.
