Why is the News Irrational?

Post by Martin Hash » Sat May 09, 2020 8:23 am

The almost total bias of the MSM is irrational, especially the ridiculous overstatements, unsourced hoaxes, and inane narratives. It wasn't like this 20 years ago; what happened? This is a result of the successful strategy of The Left, the egalitarians, to take over the narrative. It was mostly hidden until now because they had to be subtle while boiling the frog, because the prevailing ideology is liberty, older people still espouse liberty, laws are based on liberty, and liberty has the inertia.

The momentum of egalitarianism seemed unstoppable, and it was icing on the cake that Donald Trump was the nominee against their sure thing. They were arrogantly dismissive, joking even, but when Trump won, it essentially put the joke on them. The schadenfreude was overwhelming, cognitive dissonance took hold, and irrationally ensued. Liberty had finally taken the field; and had the advantage: egalitarian claims of equality always eventually get to the part where the successful people have to give up their things to the unsuccessful ones, and that pretty much ends the debate. The Left-controlled news has no other recourse but to make irrational arguments because they invariably lose rational ones.

Nothing will stop them - the right is full of cowards and rich owgs who think they can escape or buy off the left.

Having a The Left is a mathematical certainty because there will always be half the people who benefit by forcing the other half to share.

I have 2 opinions on this Martin

1. The News has always been this way. They have always been lying scum who push agendas that are anti-thetical to liberty and what the essence of America is. The golden age of news Dan Carlin pines about never happened. Read about Walter Duranty. An absolute fucking worm. Shit, newspapers didn't even pretend to hold themselves to a standard of objectivity in the early days of our country. They were literally owned and run by political parties

2. Contrary to their claims of being representative of the people, most journalists, anchors, and pundits are living in an alternative reality. Again, I believe this has always been the case. They do not represent Americans as a whole and their ideas, academic bubbles, and friendship with elites make them have trouble understanding how the average American thinks. They are however good at camoflauging themselves when they need to, and that shtick still works on a lot of folks.

Two books that discuss the media and the history of it that you might enjoy are: popular Crime by Bill James, and poisoning the press by Mark Feldman.

Jack Anderson hated Nixon. Nixon hated Anderson. But they were both taking money from the same lobbyists. This is documented. The media is really just another wing of the political elite class they claim to serve as a check against.

The media have always been elitists. CNN, Jon Stewart, Colbert, and Jon Oliver types doing those Southern conservative redneck impressions ("Oh golly gee Obama thinks he's better than me with his smart maps and his science") is not even a new tactic. Those same mockeries accusations of stupidity and inbreeding etc, were used by the News Media elites decades ago, except they used them to mock blacks (in fact, in many cases they used the exact same accents and phrases even). Back then, the blacks were acceptable fodder, being poor stupid and ignorant in the eyes of the Media and elites. Now that is politically unacceptable, so they have switched the tactics to lower class conservative Christian whites. What we are witnessing is just the latest manifestation of Media bubble elitism.

The government used to mandate a certain amount of news coverage for airtime, and advertising was not allowed.

When that stopped, it became a revenue stream for media companies. Now they need to hype viewership and sell ads. Thus, MadWorld 24/7.
SJWs are a natural consequence of corporatism.

6 US “news” conglomerates control 98% market share - and also operate in China - still surprised?

You all want to read some Orwellian shit, look up the fairness doctrine. One of the many many cases of anti-free speech in America's history along with folks using that stupid fire in a crowded theater case.

Again, all of this stems from big govt. The only way to ameliorate this type of shit is to reduce the government's power. The rest is window dressing.

The news has always been disgusting. Journalists are less honest than lawyers. If you reduce govt power, you will by default reduce their own as well.
