Martin Hash Murder Mystery Book

Post by heydaralon » Wed Apr 22, 2020 5:09 pm

About 2 weeks ago, I ordered a coy of Martin Hash's mystery novel, Masihiya. The book is available on amazon and I received it today. This book is set in post Apartheid South Africa, and details a murder of a pregnant black girl who possibly has a white father. I have barely gotten into it, but so far it is well written and engaging.

The cover art is also really intriguing. It reminds me of a mixture of Graphic Novel meets Contemporary African folk art. Anyway, since Martin keeps this forum up and running, and we are all freeloaders (myself especially included) I thought I'd buy his book and do some free promotion for him.

The book is like $10 I think. It is not exclusively expensive or anything like the bullshit books I have to buy for school. Anyway, if you all are bored and locked-down, consider reading this book for entertainment.

Once I finish this bad boy, I will post a full review. Stay safe y'all.

I want the audiobook read by the author in the same style as his podcast.

I actually talk like that. Several times in my life, I've overheard people say, "I don't like the way he talks."

I've seen interviews with you where you spoke in a most excellent manner. I think you could do a good book reading. How long would it take to make an audiobook version of a 267-page book? I haven't the faintest idea.

You talk like that casually? I don't dislike your style, but I always thought that was a speaking technique, the way Dan or Darryl Cooper does, to capture the audience's attention.

In the past, I have mentioned that perhaps you could find a way to lengthen your podcasts just to expand upon your ideas more. But, now the brevity is something I appreciate. I don't see eye to eye with you on 100% of your solutions to these problems, but I commend you on being able to present, explain, and propose a solution for a complex problem within under 5 minutes for each episode. I have trouble sitting through longer podcast episodes now tbh. I'd rather just jam out to music at work or in traffic. But you getting to the point without any fat on it is a great trait. I need to work on that with my writing and communication in general. It is a superhero skill I need to acquire ASAP once I get into the job world.

As you have said, you have a lot of ideas. Your episode count attests to that. You just gotta figure out how to market them to the rest of the world.

The singsong aspect of my presentation is an affection but it’s based on my casual speaking, which is rhythmic, and lots of judgmental folks are confused into thinking I’m stupid. Before I troll one of these dicks to death, I usually warn them: “underestimate me at your own expense.”
