The US 80 year cycle

Post by Hastur » Sat Mar 28, 2020 1:11 pm

We have the American revolution, the Civil War, and WWII. All roughly 80 years apart. They all were violent and cataclysmic events that changed the direction of the US.
It's now 80 years since WWII. Can the covid 19 epidemy be the start of the next phase?

I'm thinking of the resistance towards globalism and the "new world order" Bretton Woods system. What if the image of this virus and its detrimental effect on personal freedom gets attached to everyone shilling for open borders and the abolishment of nation states?

Yes, this is the 4th Turning.

End of Democrat dominance in politics.
Old elites recede, new elites are made.
End of the Progressive Century, the real start of the 21st. Century.
Education changes, the way jobs are viewed and managed changes.
A new brand of Nationalism on the rise, Globalism fading.

All Western civilization is built upon slavery. The invention of modern paid jobs meant we could do away with slaves by making almost everyone a slave for 40 hours a week. Everyone was the owner of 1/3 of a slave, themselves.
Now that a lot of jobs can be done by automatons the rules will change again. We once again will have an imbalance of slave ownership. A d we will have a new underclass with little value.

I don’t believe in historical cycles, but I do agree with the conclusion that the already existing skepticism towards globalization will gain more momentum now. There are already people who highlight the exploitation and wage dumping of East European workers and that the push for more open borders principally benefits the wealthiest. This can serve as a nice little shift of the Overton window.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.
