John Vervaeke - Awakening from the Meaning Crisis

Post by Hastur » Fri Aug 30, 2019 1:37 am

John Vervaeke's recent series, 'Awakening From the Meaning Crisis' has won him a cult following online. He has joined the emergent intellectual awakening, looking for ways to bring together science, psychology and the world's wisdom traditions. A colleague of Jordan Peterson's in the University of Toronto Psychology Department, he specialises in Cognitive Science, Buddhism and also teaches Tai Chi and Mindfulness. He sat down to talk about his series, and where he thinks this emergent conversation is heading.

Available both as podcast and YouTube series.

There is definitely something going on in the world. Maybe it is a new Great Awakening. I'll give it a listen.

IMO, we are starting to shake off the a lot of the thought of the 20th C. Half the world is trying to desperately hold on to the legacies of the Progressive century, the geo political situation and structures that were the end result of WWI. The other half is looking for a way forward, they have lost faith in the aged structures and thought. More personally people are looking within themselves and saying this starts with me.
