Trujillo Street Market

Post by Martin Hash » Tue May 14, 2019 12:00 pm

My wife, Gwynne, and I visit Peru often, mostly because our son and his family live there, but also because, in our estimation Peru is the most interesting country in South America, at least if you're an ancient history buff, and their recent history is quite interesting too. Every city we've been in has a Street market, and in the few hours we spent in Trujillo, we made the Street market our go-to event, though McDonald's was also high on the list.

It was almost Christmas, and my wife, Gwynne, always wears a red Santa hat. We'd brought some with us for ourselves, but they were so cheap in the market that she decided to buy some more just in case we met someone on Christmas who wasn't wearing one. This was as good an excuse as any to interact with multiple vendors while trying to save 30 cents.

And since it was Sunday, we came across a street parade centered around a statue of the Virgin Mary.
