Listening to Neil Young Tribute Band

They did some Buffalo Springfield stuff, and some CSN&Y. I’m liking this new tribute band craze.

We better get used to it. The music we grew up with will be the new playbook. Almost no new music has the same qualities. Just like symphony orchestras and jazz bands play mostly classics, the rock bands of tomorrow will do the same.

It's something with the new digital music creation that just fails to generate greatness. I'm tired of waiting for "something new" to appear.

The soundtrack on Venom is HipHop, and Ballers uses HipHop. I watched some Kanye YouTubes (to see what's up with this Trumper) and it's good. I read an article that said your music tastes are formed when you're 14, and all other music sounds foreign after that.

But Tribute bands where they look and act like the original members are great. I couldn't tell last night's lead singer from John Fogerty. Wife and I danced. All the other attendees were our age too, so I don't think there's any crossover to the HipHop crowd.

We saw a Queen tribute band last year and a Floyd tribute band a few months ago. I am also liking the tribute band craze. Both were fantastic. The guy doingFreddy Mercury was outstanding... the moves, the looks, the outfits...

The only disappointment during the Floyd concert was that I couldn't believe how many in the audience didn't realize that part of the greatness of Floyd's music is the instrumentals that start almost every song. *instrumental intro* Talk talk talk talk... oh! Lyrics! Let's listen..

WTF?
