America Ain’t That Great?
Yet again, a change I missed while I was doing my thing; apparently GenZ doesn’t think America is any great shakes, and 60% of them actually prefer socialism.
Patriotism is obviously something that has to be indoctrinated into kids, and schools have apparently been doing exactly the opposite. I’m not sure we can turn this shit around?

Then don’t. Let them fall down, scrape their knees and let them learn from their own mistakes.
Patriotism, Nationlism and any other “ism” limits the mind. Let them inhale, think, and reassess what works and what doesn’t.
Talking down to Gen Z will breed mistrust, resentment, and you’ll never get the outcome you desire.

That’s probably a generation or two past my expiration date unless there’s a major medical breakthrough.
My guess is that during The Collapse, that will happen during my lifetime, there’s going to be some major purging, South America-style.

As a lazy Gen Xer, whose getting way too close to 50, Gen Z will be picking out my nursing home or put me on a bus to the northwest with all of those “right to die” laws on the books.
And if there’s a purge, just sit on the porch crack open a cold one and enjoy!

From where I'm sitting the US is starting to look and sound like Sweden in the '60s and '70s with your flirting with Socialism. It's not a perfect analogy but close enough. Remember that the theory in Sweden was that we had to try it because we were uniquely positioned to, with low unemployment, high education, a homogeneous population with similar values, small income gap to start with, unprecedented strong adherence to the social contract, almost no corruption and a ruling party with a stable majority. We also had a state monopoly on TV and Radio to hammer the ideas home without opposition.
The Social Democratic engineers of society openly said that if it doesn't work here it won't work anywhere.
And what happened? It didn't work. Took us two decades to figure out it was unattainable and then plunged headfirst into massive deregulation and open market free-for-all.
You must stop this madness at all cost. Why are people like this elected in the US?

Nationalize the major industries. Hmm, didn't they try that in some country starting with a "V" fairly recently? Might be a good idea to see how it's working out for them...?Hastur wrote: ↑Fri Aug 24, 2018 1:47 amFrom where I'm sitting the US is starting to look and sound like Sweden in the '60s and '70s with your flirting with Socialism. It is the same idea that finally brought down the Swedish Social Democrats in the '80s. They wanted to confiscate part of the profits from all listed companies and use that money to buy up shares in the same companies in the name of the employees. The plan was to gradually transfer ownership to collectively owned funds. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Employee_fundsPh64 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 24, 2018 2:30 amNationalize the major industries. It took 50 years, 2 generations, for Sweden to start coming back. Even if Harry is right, and America does recover some of its values after we're dead, it won't ever be even near the way it was. Certainly, women will be in control.

The Socialist disease is women; not all of them, but a lot. Where are they being indoctrinated with this stuff? What classes do they go to that men don't? What social structure affects girls in this way?
