Denmark to force 'ghetto' children to learn about democracy, Christmas

Children living in residential areas of Denmark with large numbers of immigrants will now have to be educated about democracy, equality, and other major holidays like Christmas, government officials announced Monday.

The new policy, which was agreed to by the country's major political parties, will force children living in "ghettos" into 25 hours of public education a week starting from the age of one, according to Reuters....

About the one year olds... daycare and kindergarten workers have been left scratching their heads about that one, too. Because it will require them to monitor and document the "democracy development" of the child - otherwise government can't know whose kids are learning and not learning to be democratic. And how are they supposed to do that? Politician's don't seem to know. So, that part's not really popular - both because there's already alot of very unpopular bureaucracy and paperwork in today's public administrations, but also because that degree of social control and monitoring rubs childcare professionals here the wrong way.

They all do agree about the basics, though: That you can't integrate immigrant families if they keep isolating themselves and their children from wider society and the new cultural community they're part of.

And DB... Denmark's still not Dutch. I swear, you defend one foreign, funny custom nearly a decade ago and people just assume you must be from that culture.

I think you will find it near impossible to integrate these people. Some of them will, but most will not. The more you import, the more impossible it will become to integrate them. At this point, you are just asking them to please colonize Europe.

We are basically doing the same thing with Hispanics, though Hispanics are for the most part really good people, so we aren't headed down the same dark path as you guys.
