Of ways long past.

“Society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”

We've lost this, as a people.

Some people haven't...

Belgium: First Islamic State in Europe?

https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/1220 ... amic-state
The leaders of Belgium's ISLAM Party apparently want to turn Belgium into an Islamic State. They call it "Islamist democracy" and have set a target date: 2030.

"The program is confusingly simple: replace all the civil and penal codes with sharia law. Period". — French magazine Causeur.

"The European capital [Brussels] will be Muslim in twenty years". — Le Figaro.

Indeed. The old perpetually giving more to the young makes a great society.
Sounds like something that would appeal to milennials.

You know what I think would make a great society?
The young having too much pride to seek shade handouts and planting their own trees.
Self sufficiency.
We've lost more of that than we've lost handout-seeking from the younger generation.

Plus, if you check the national debt, you'll see every living generation today has already invested in more trees than they'll ever see shade from. All you have to do is ask the government where the trees are at. They already took the seed money.

Skipping out on paying the bill is what you're leaving us. Hell man, it'd be good enough if it were just "hey, we didn't leave you with anything, you have to figure it out yourself." Sure, then it's whatever, we'll make it work, but you're leaving us the check after you ate the meal.

Thanks.

The UK paid off one of their WWI debts maybe a decade ago now (DC mentioned it in BfA, though I remember it from before that in the news)... That was a debt from a war where basically everyone who was involved in creating that debt was long dead. That's just the way it works. Was it a good "investment"? Well, that's debatable if you think it they stayed out of the war things would've been "better"... But it's not how things turned out, and honestly who knows if you'd be alive if history went differently?

Is there anything more pathetic than a grown man crying about how the last generation left him debt - when every living generation was left debt? Seriously, they sound like useless, self obsessed teenagers crying to their parents. Read it yourself:

We all owe Jedi because we "ate" the meal and left him with the check. Snarky -"Thanks".
What a fucking douche.

Can you imagine a man from the Greatest Generation saying something so retarded?
Nope.

Eats the meal, leaves the younger generation with the check. Younger Generation says, "Thanks."

Your government ate the meal.
We didn't get shit.
Now stop crying to us like we victimized you and try standing up and being a man.

There is a point to be made about waiting til the baby boomers die off before we can do anything about it, but once they die off, it's our problem. It's not fair to leave it to the next generation after us.

And it's not "your" government. It's "our" government.
