Random Olympics discussion
There are more vague and off-the-rails Olympics topics in here than skeletons in HRC's closet. So I'm starting a new one.
Figure Skating - Wife (Is that still an allowable term to SJWs?) and I watched some figure skating last night. Saw the Canadian, French, and US teams in order. Canadian score made sense. French one seemed high, especially when they messed up a couple of spots. If I as a once every 4 years viewer can spot slip ups, then the judges can too. Then the US team goes on and puts on what we both thought was a second place worthy performance. Nope. Judges had them significantly behind the French team. Scoring in these competitions is a joke. Don't try and fool me with the colored dots that are supposed to show how the technical parts are being evaluated. The judges still appear to be counting based on things not in the performance.
The schedule for prime time is messed up. Had to sit through boring practice runs of women's downhill before actual competition in skating began late in the night. I've missed a number of finals because I go to bed at 10pm CST for work the next day. I'd rather see the best Olympics in prime time as a delay, than to sit through live qualifying and practices. It's prime time, it should be the best available, not whatever boring shit is going on live. Save that for the other channels like NBCSN and CNBC.
Switched over to NBA all-star game to see Fergie butcher the anthem. The parts of the game I saw were ok, Can't get excited watching when the players are just putting on a poor Harlem Globetrotters show. There was some defense, but too many 3's being hoisted up from extra long range. Ok, back to Olympics.
Where are the people? Every venue looks sparsely attended.
Overall, I've been less excited than I can ever recall for the Olympics, summer or winter. I've watched more curling on CNBC than anything else (and I still don't understand the scoring or strategy very well). IDK if it's a lack of likable or familiar athletes, the schedule, or what.

They are slaves to the live schedule. They are 14 hours ahead so those events are late because they are showing them live.

I can't find it now, but a few days ago I read an article that mentioned NBC had some influence on the Olympics schedule. They essentially talked the IOC into this kind of schedule.

So it really wasn't worth plugging the television aids back up?

I would imagine they do, within reason of course. Training ski runs in the morning? Sure. Getting all the fancy fops to dress up and spike their hair and hustle their little stupid buts into the arena before 11 or noon? Faggot please.PartyOf5 wrote:I can't find it now, but a few days ago I read an article that mentioned NBC had some influence on the Olympics schedule. Interest drops off when your team is not doing well. Not exactly news.
Meanwhile GB has equalled it's best ever haul of medals. We have had our first ever athlete retain a winter Oylmpics title with Lizzie Yarnold in the skeleton bob. We also took bronze, the first ever double podium for GB at the Winter games. Ratings are not suffering in the UK.
Both mens and womens curling teams can make the semi finals but short track multiple world champion Elise Christie has failed to take home a medal for the second Olympics in a row.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Yet y'all suck at hockey, so none of that matters. Get your shit together Britain.Montegriffo wrote:Interest drops off when your team is not doing well. Not exactly news.
