Humans operate via incentive. Every action we take is in anticipation of the dopamine hit we're going to get: ahhhh.....

This forum has been around for 10 years. I enjoyed it. I didn't allow members. There was no traffic here but I still dripped the dopamine from the personal achievement of whatever accomplishment I posted. My mom or sons or a random would see my stuff and that was enough, and no negativity. My personal rule in life used to be: "Something has to be more positive than negative for me to do it." That worked for 40 years but as I aged, it's now: "Things can't make my life worse." That's where this forum falls. I get almost no positive reinforcement yet have to deal with perversity regularly. I still do all the things I've always done: my podcasts come out bidaily, I quote, I write travel stories, I collect things: I just don't post them here. Why should I? The venom, spite, and passive agressiveness overwhelms any other comments.

I'm not going to shut it down but I'm not going to participate either unless there's some quid pro quo; I got to get at least as much as I give. For example, I need to layout a new campaign billboard. I could do it myself but it's better if I don't feel like it's just me thinking I'd be a good representative. So, who's going to volunteer to help on my campaign? (This is a test.)

Maybe if your choice of moderator didn't censor people for no good reason, and threaten to censor them for no good reason, the forum wouldn't be as venomous as it is right now. Protip.

Turns out folks don't like moderating via selective enforcement based on the feelz of the moderator, who knew?
Turns out that Canadians in particular don't take kindly to threats of censoring hockey talk, who knew?
