Cop Was Happy About Posting a Weed Bust on FB

Post by K@th » Thu Dec 21, 2017 10:25 am

On Friday, the Texas police department posted two pictures that included a boastful officer grinning as he held up a pound of seized cannabis and what amounted to $2,300 in cash. Deputy Steven Siracusa discovered the plants and currency during a traffic stop.

This article isn't about the drug bust, but about the comments from libertarians. Hilarious reading (for those who think the war on pot is stupid, anyway.)

One of the comments wrote:"Think of the child pedophiles, rapists, and murderers that continued in their crimes while you chased a plant that heals cancer and makes people laugh"
Weed "healing" cancer seems to be a popular fantasy among fools who feel a need to turn getting high into something either "profound", or pretend it's a miracle medicine.

Legalize it because you should have the right to get high if you like. But don't waste the world's time making it into something more than that.

Weed haters are exactly the type of uptight folks you’d expect them to be.
Thanks for the reminder, grumpy Bjorn.

Claiming it cures cancer is ridiculous. It does, however, help alleviate symptoms. Just had a friend go through a year of chemo plus surgeries after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She's cancer free now. During the treatments, she used pot to alleviate symptoms. it also helped her eat. (Makes you hungry and gets rid of nausea.)

What's "weed hating" about disagreeing with people who (feel a) need to justify and legitimize their consumption of intoxicants when asked, with some faux-high minded bullshit or with how somebody else benefits from their intoxicants, instead of just answering: "Because I want to"? You wanna get high? Get high. Wanna make money off of weed sales? Make some money, get rich, enjoy yourself. As long as you don't drive high, operate heavy machinery, perform heart surgery... don't care.

Sure, for cancer sufferers and similar with no possibility of working again, it can have legit medicinal uses. Most people don't use it for that, though. It would be like morphine addicts running around arguing how good morphine is for pain relief in severe chronic pain cases and using that as an argument for why they use it. People shouldn't need any other reason than: "I like smoking weed, therefore I smoke weed".

No need to fabricate me being "angry", DB. It's a lazy way to pretend to publicly win an argument, tbh. Try arguing for why I'm wrong instead, maybe?
