That wasn't a question, it was a statement. As for why, it's a myriad of things, from Democrats being in control for so long, some of the strongest gun laws in place, and cronyism... pick your choice you won't be wrong.

Hell, if you want to go all out, balls to the walls, nuts on why... have fun.

Got a source? I looked at numerous sites and could only find a couple that put Chicago in the top 30.

This one puts Chicago as 25th highest for murder in the US.

http://bismarcktribune.com/news/nationa ... a8e.html#7

Of course, St Louis, number 1 murder capital of the US, also has very restrictive gun laws.... oh wait, no they don't.
Open carry[edit]
Missouri allows any person who has a valid concealed carry endorsement or permit and is lawfully carrying a firearm in a concealed manner to briefly and openly display the firearm, so long as the firearm is not displayed in an angry or threatening manner.[14] Some localities prohibit open carry; however, concealed carry license holders are exempted from this restriction.[15]
Account abandoned.

199 Homicides in St. Louis this year... compared to... 659 in Chicago this year? Yeah... St. Louis is much more dangerous...

Per capita, TC. Look at murder rates, not number of murders.

It's gang v gang violence....less strict gun laws probably wouldn't have much of an impact as gangs don't typically "hit" non-gang members (not counting family).....problem is leftist "great society" experiment, which cultivates poverty.....poverty produces idiots who have kids out of wedlock which (usually) produced more poor idiots....rinse, repeat.....

It's no secrete what's going on.....the problem is, that powerful people have a lot to gain with the current caste system.....so things won't change any time soon....

Does the Mayor of Chicago (with millions of people) or the Governor of Illinois have the power to install marshal law on sections of the city? Block by block street sweeping, check points, rolling up the drug dealers/gang members? (*I know even if they had the power they would never do it, just want to know if one of the executives has the power)?

Chicago is not the murder capital of the country. First tackle #1, St. Louis. Then the other 22 that are ahead of Chicago.

City A: 1000 residents, 2 murders.
City B: 10,000 residents, 5 murders.

Which has a worse murder rate?

According to TC, it's City B.

Quantity has a quality all of it own. 1,000 + people killing, wounding, robbing, and pillaging is far too many for any so called civilized city.

Small is beautiful. Cities are too large and chaotic. Entropy alone makes it too difficult to keep order.
