Benefits of Cold Shower and Cold Conditioning
Apparently, exposing yourself to cold water (even ice water) drastically increases your immune system as well as gives you a boost to testosterone output.
This man, Wim Hof, developed a method to condition your body to the cold, which resulted in healing and made possible some remarkable feats.
I think, along with fasting, this is plank number two in the foundation to self-mastery.

Or, you know.... you could just live without AC. I haven't been sick since I financed this solar oven I call a home. Usually I get sick once or twice a year (not including hangovers.)Never Get Sick Again

There exist physiological reasons for what happened to this man's body and his those of his students. There are very real benefits from this practice. It's a pretty fucking big deal. Listen to the video before you comment at least.

Why? I take cold showers because it's the only thing that keeps me cool for a few hours. Why do I need to listen to some pampered manlet about how to live my life? If I wanted advice from AC critters I would have went to work at Best Buy instead of a fucking steel mill lollisten to a the video before commenting

Cold showers are just the beginning. This dude is superhuman now (for real).
This is caveman meta level power.
I am talking about making ourselves stronger and becoming completely in command of our bodies here.

Yeah, he and his students rapidly ascend mountains without getting mountain sickness. They don't have to take periods of rest to acclimate to the lower oxygen like other climbers do.
I think he adapted his method from some earlier yoga method, though. Not sure. But it's not just him. His students are doing crazy shit like this too.
I think for those of us of European ancestry, something like this really gets at the core of who we are. Our ancestors are cold-adapted. We might thrive in pursuit of such things. Obviously just doing this method drastically increases the immune system and basically gives you a kind of superpower compared to other people who lack the discipline.
I think this is one other piece of the puzzle to achieve self-mastery.
Here's another feat:
This is amazing conditioning:
