14 Year-Old Electrocuted to Death by Cellphone

She's plugged in her phone by the bathtub and drops it in. Tragic, but also a lesson for those who don't know that electricity, water, and people don't mix in a good way.

i saw a thing years ago about some kind of safety mechanism on modern electronics that stops stuff like that from happening. something about stopping the current from spiking in the sort of case where a device gets dropped in water. i would have guessed something like that made an event like this unlikely.
that would have been a hold by beer moment i might not have walked away from.

Anyone that contributed to this is retarded.a gofundme page
That said, the power brick inverts AC to 12v DC which won't kill you. Just make you jump. The battery doesn't have the lifespan to discharge a lethal dose of electricity and the power brick should be providing nothing over 12v or whatever the phone uses. Some fucky wiring going on here if this story is even true. Sounds like some retarded Mexican meme more like.
"Oh she died of an OD in the bathtub what do?"
"Drop the iPhone in and make it look like she accidentally electrocuted herself so we can start a gofundme and lawsuit!"
Fuck out of here nigger

That outlet was not to code. Should have GFCI protection.
That's really sad.

Fuck the GFCI fuse. I doubt it's even possible to do with a power brick unless somehow they spliced in a USB outlet like "whatever lol"

oh yeah, i remember that. when my dad was rebuilding our house after it burned down, he had to get it up to current code as it was built in the 80s. he mentioned having to buy those.de officiis wrote:https://www.thespruce.com/nec-regulatio ... is-1152273
Good to have them in all your bathrooms.

It's just a simple outlet panel you can get at Lowes, dude. If they had one of those in the bathroom (which was working properly), this would not have happened.

But, dude, can you point to me in the Texas building codes where it says you can install a USB outlet in the bathroom instead of a GFCI protected outlet??
