Seems an odd thing to kill yourself over disillusionment about a nation state, they're not that important in the grand scheme of things, might have considered just moving to the Turks & Caicos for some margaritas and golf instead. That was pretty much the doctrine of the Western Europeans, up until the arrival of the welfare state, Western Values were never actually all that loyal to the state, they took the best deal they could get, wherever they could get it, preferably someplace sunny and warm, and they didn't look back.

Sitting around blubbering about Germany not being German enough? First of all, Germany wasn't even a country, but second of all, even if it had been, who had time for that? Shit to do, places to see, money to make, sitting around moping and feeling sorry for yourselves, was never a Western Value.
