It wouldn't work. Their power grid probably cannot handle shitty, malformed power from solar panels. The cost of maintaining them every day would be pretty high, and you spread them out in a line across a thousand miles instead of clustered them together in a small area.

Solar panel is totally shitty, unreliable power that cannot power shit more demanding than lights and fucking garage door openers. You can't run factories on that garbage power without massive subsidies and all sorts of stupid games to make it look economical when it's not.
