Paris Climate Accord

Post by Martin Hash » Tue Jun 06, 2017 12:48 pm

People should never let themselves be enticed into sketchy things because its fashionable, and neither should nations. Because a lot of people put rings in their noses, you don't have to, and if I don't, that doesn't make me stupid, antisocial or evil. Environmentalism is the virtue-signaling champion; nobody can be more sanctimonious than someone demanding you save baby seals & polar bears. If Environmentalism had anything to do with Conservationism, I'd give it pass as a fad, but Environmentalism is actually a cloak for Marxist-thinking & totalitarian rule, which brings us to the Paris Climate Accords...

Nobody was on a legal standing in Paris; not the United States, and not the rest of the world. In fact, it could be argued that many of the signatories were bribed to engage by being promised some of the $half-billion give-away, which seemed to be the only concrete thing the agreement offered, primarily from the coffers of the U.S., of course. Basically, it was pseudo-science temperature projections half a century in the future that were virtually unchanged from now, combined with “green energy” masturbation & a dog-collar for the U.S., provided by Globalists everywhere. Whatever supposed “facts” anybody suggested were in that document, there weren't any, only implied obligations, primary of which was the United State's tacit agreement to be subject to International socialism.

Frankly, we don't need to be aligned with anyone who accepts China as the world leader. Plenty of Conservationy things going on the U.S. without taking orders from Chairman Mao. My suggestion: fuel cells combined nuclear power. Both technologies are here today and do more than anything proposed in Paris.

If you're outraged that America is being left out of the circle-jerk club, get a tattoo like everyone else.

Lots of buzzwords there Marty.

Marxism, Totalitarianism, Globalism....

The Paris Accord was shitty and ineffectual, because no one wanted it to have any real teeth and so it was the best crappy document that everyone could agree on.
Was it going to do much of anything.... Probably not. It was mostly a "feel good" pseudo arrangement to win over voters who "care" about the environment but aren't going to read whether the agreement does anything anyways.... everyone wanted to pretend to do something... but actually commit to nothing.

Was Trump right to "pull out".... probably... will it ultimately make a difference... probably not....
Will lefties everywhere be outraged even though they know jack shit about the actual Paris Accord.... yep.

Too late to stop it anyway. I, for one, look forward to sending NYC and other slimeholes my paychecks forever, so they can build sea walls.

It's not too late necessarily to ameliorate I think. Since the powerful are busy finding boltholds for themselves and their families, instead of working on solving the problems for everyone, I think instead you won't have any places left to mail those checks. Unless it's to make reservations at the Sierra Nevada's luxury beach resorts.

Just have to fight my way through the refugee camps to get there. It'll be great. I'll have all kinds of awesome new taxes to pay when I'm still working at 75.

Hey, all the rest of the World is still in the Accord, so either the U.S. is the only country that makes any difference, or things will be fine, right, because why would we be in a treaty that didn't do anything but penalize us?

p.s. The U.S. will meet or exceed those goals anyway, without paying anybody else a thing.

I hate to say it, but why do we have the TSA, and all the "enhanced" screening at the airport? It's Kabuki Theater meant to look good as if they are being serious about protecting us from the evil terrorists. It's the same with the accords. Anyways, the United States is no longer the main polluter. That's China, and unless it and India, clean up, nothing we do will change much.

Hey, you and I will both be there in our dotage paying our "fair" share of taxes for all the camps. Just think, what with the famines from climate collapse, we'll both have a chance to have the chic new look of Irish famine victims. Just like my ancestors!

Maybe we can meet up while I'm on the beach reading On the Beach, or lighter reading The March of Folly?

(I think I am getting just a tiny bit darkly fanciful and morbid. Maybe I should rememberize The Widening Gyre? :-))

I hope you don't mean to say that Florida is a slimehole.... There are some mighty fine people living down here.
