Went To A Democrat Meeting

Last night, my wife, Gwynne & I, went to our first Democratic Party meeting is almost a year. Like has happened several times over the past decade I've been attending these things, virtually all the attendees were new, including the entire leadership. Out of 50 people, maybe I'd seen 10 before? It's absolutely bizarre that the turnover is so complete & predictable, but this was the most attendees I've ever seen.

Another amazing indicator, only 1 person recognized me as their 3-time candidate (and he was the candidate for the other seat). My face has been on 8X4 signs for literally years, my picture has been in multiple Voter's pamphlets, my name has been listed 100s of times, yet no one recognized my face or my name when I introduced myself. Wow, that campaigning stuff is a total waste.

Thirdly, after 3-1/2 hours, the only person who ever discussed actual politics was me. Nobody ever says a thing, they're all acclimated to the slogans. And my interjection was all bad, and also indicative of the rot. A union organizer was trying to get an anti-Right-To-Work endorsement to send to the State Committee. Everybody was just going to vote for it but I stood up & quoted the U.N. amendments that specifically disallow forcing people to join unions. I prefaced & ended my 3 minute speech with my commitment as a Democrat not to vote against the Party Platform but unionism is knee-jerk for Dems, and my mia culpa was inadequate. What makes it really bad was that the other candidate who did know me, talked to me after the meeting and basically made the admission that UNION CAMPAIGN DONATIONS dictated his position, regardless of the facts!

I'm glad you are giving us these boots on the ground reports, Martin. It seems the Libertarian meeting you attended was more enjoyable.

If you left the Democrat meeting with the same cash and same tax rate as you came in with, I'd call that an unqualified success.

Two of the attendees (at least) were transgenders. All but one of the leadership was female (but that's usually the case). Lots-n-lots of Roberts Rules of Order. There's another group called "Young Democrats" for people under 30 so all of these people were Millennials; a handful of OWGs; maybe 40% male. They put some posterboards on the wall with different titles, gave everyone 6 stickers, and we went around the room & put stickers on the topics we were most interested in: Healthcare/Abortion, Corruption/Campaign Financing & Environment were the Top 3. Everybody nice. Many of the women were obese. (I'm seeing this everywhere, WTF is going on?)

p.s. Did I mention everyone's a dork? Just like the Libertarian meeting. People at the grassroots level of politics are weirdos.
p.p.s. I'd like to go to a Republican meeting now?

Although, as we all know, female obesity is now a feminist issue.

Women are getting really fat lately. It used to be that most fat people were men. Now it's like huge numbers of women have decided to blow themselves up, paint their hair blue, and dress like an orc from Lord of the Rings. Weird times.

Gay dudes are probably excited to see this trend.
