Are Swords Acceptable Gear In Street Fights?

What good is a gun in D&D? A wand of fireball beats a gun.

This is the first time I have seen you be against having a gun. I am sure I can get a wizard to cast a really amazing spell on my gun. While I am at it I also want an off road car that will never run out of gas nor needs any real major upkeep and a bazooka. Think about it, I can conquer any kingdom with modern tech with a few helpful spells.

Why wouldn't you just get the wizard to teach you a fire spell?
If I'm battling you and your magic pistol, you know I'm just gonna disarm you, right?

Depends on your god that you worship. Some classes worship chaos gods and it will cast a random effect on you if you try to read a book. Scrolls are different though I think....

Magical weapons are more effective. Even just combining existing ranged weapons with magic is far more potent than a gun. You can cast darkness on a stone and then have the slinger toss it in the direction of the enemy.
If you are up against undead, cast Sunburst on the stone and toss that at them.
Drow in Underdark: cast Sunburst on the rock roof of the cave, then cast Transmute Rock to drop mud that radiates sunlight to cover them.
They can do the same to you with Darkness, though..
What's the point of guns?
