Went to a Libertarian Meeting
I was invited to a meeting of the Clark County Libertarians tonight. The guy who invited me is running for a non-partisan office. He's young, enthusiastic & optimistic; good for him. They're almost all Millennials, and we talked politics the whole time, not something that EVER happens at Democratic meetings. It was a good time. I'm not a Libertarian, but frankly, I don't think most of them are either; they're Liberalists like me (and a lot of guys on this forum), but just don't know the ideologies well enough to know what the differences are. They do know they're not socialists or bible-thumpers though.
The guy who invited me, and a couple others, were advocating that Libertarian candidates simply pick which of two existing Parties they most closely match, and run as that, but keep their Libertarian ideology. I assured them that is the best strategy. (From a guy who's never won.)

So many questions. What were the minutes like from the meeting?Martin Hash wrote:I was invited to a meeting of the Clark County Libertarians tonight. I didn't see anyone taking minutes. It was more of a free-for-all. I invited the most vociferous debaters to join this forum... (That never happens though, I don't know why?)skankhunt42 wrote:So many questions. What were the minutes like from the meeting?

Wow, that's like angry wrong. Libertarians are Free Market Capitalists. They're Republicans without religion & military adventurism.Speaker to Animals wrote:Libertarians are basically democrats.

Re: Went to a Libertarian Meeting
One of the attendees at the meeting had a good metaphor for Trump. He said in his office (Investment Advisers) there's an asshole, and even though he's a Superstar, nobody wants to be around him. Trump, he suggested, is a Superstar asshole, otherwise where are his lifelong advisors? Why is his daughter & SIL his closest confidants? It's a bad sign that the Asshole runs the office.
p.s There was only one female at the meeting, the wife of the only OWG.
p.s.s. There was some discussion of the split between themselves & the Ron Paul Libertarians: (1) a split of such a tiny Party? (2) are all the OWGs in the Ron Paul half?

Re: Went to a Libertarian Meeting
This is a good interview that basically boils down to liberalist vs libertarian and how they need to work together to grow strong
I'm sold.

Re: Went to a Libertarian Meeting
Oops, Rubin synonymized liberty & freedom. (He needs to listen to my podcast "Liberty vs. Freedom," Geez, it's only 2 min.)
In debate at the meeting, I kept saying "Liberals are extroverts & Libertarians are introverts." Libertarians have the concept of liberty down (though they still need to learn to articulate it more succinctly; again, listen to my podcasts guys), but they miss the part that will always keep them from control... That other people are your allies, and you have to pay attention to how your allies are doing too, because The Deal may be working out for you, but if most of your former allies think they can do better with a new Deal, it's over.
