Turkey wotes Yes to dictatorship (?)

Post by Hastur » Sun Apr 16, 2017 10:45 am

It looks like Erdogan is going to get what he wants. I believe this will put an end to the brief stint of secular democratic rule put in place by Kemal Ataturk. Turkey will go towards Islamic dictatorship.
They would represent the most sweeping programme of constitutional changes since Turkey became a republic almost a century ago.
The president would be given vastly enhanced powers to appoint cabinet ministers, issue decrees, choose senior judges and dissolve parliament.
The new system would scrap the role of prime minister and concentrate power in the hands of the president, placing all state bureaucracy under his control.

As proved in Egypt, democracy in Islam lasts one election.

From her quote, they merged the duties of the PM with those of the President. That's how our executive functions.

We don't have a Parliament & if we did, we wouldn't dissolve it.

I don't really know what to make of it. The media source provided is obviously trying to distort it somehow. But the basic premise described is more like American government, so to call it the next Sultanate seems a little silly unless there is more to the amendment than they are listing.

The next logical step is letting Turkey into the EU. Step two is bringing back Schengen so that the jihadists have an easier time getting around Europe. Merkel should push hard for both these steps since she is already down with locking up German citizens who criticize Ergogan. All she needs to do now is put on a burka, and drive her car into a crowd of people.

If I'm Turkey, I wouldn't want in the EU and I'd be glad they don't seem to want us. That's a bullet dodged.
