Kanpeki Knife Set ($1,300 for under $230)

Post by The Conservative » Wed Apr 05, 2017 10:08 am

I was looking at some knives to replace at home because some of mine are, well lets just say are junk... I can do a lot with them, but I can only sharpen cheap metal so well...

So I went looking, and found this:

https://kamikoto.com/collections/store/ ... -knife-set

For those who like cooking, these are almost too good to let get away. I'm buying a set Friday.

Maybe you are a professional chef, I'm not. I'll keep my $100 Old Chicago and buy $1100 is premium quality meat instead.

With any tool, be it a knife, gun or wrench. Not much sense getting tools your skill does not exceed.

LOL, do you even know what Niigata Steel is? Any chef worth their salt, especially those who want to do fine detail work with their meat and fish want to use these knives. Hell Morimoto uses these as his own personal use, and when he works.

This type of knife steel if taken care of properly is something that can be handed down through generations. I have all intentions to do that for my son.

Shitty steel since they didn't even bother to tell you what it is.
Not even full tang (bolstered)
No mention of other materials.

Sure, reddit is such a great source of information. Also, you can find the information if you choose to look for it. So be it.

Niigata is a place, man. I am sure shitty steel is being made in Niigata. Japanese steel ain't all that great, son.

If it were good steel, they'd tell you what it is.
