We have to take back the culture

Post by Speaker to Animals » Sun Feb 05, 2017 11:08 pm

She is spot on with a few things here:

The only way to turn this around is to take back the academy from the marxists, and create alternative media sources for news and entertainment that is not controlled by marxists or globalists.

The people you see rioting and attacking Americans on the streets are lost. Their minds and spirits were destroyed by marxism. We can sit here and fight with the products of marxist-controlled institutions for the rest of our lives and never make progress for as long as those institutions can keep churning out these zombies.

I'd say the first step you should consider, would be to actually find widely respected academic counter-arguments to the arguments presented by what you like to call Marxists.

For example, that whole "Critical Race theory" thing: A quick wikipedia search revealed that an American historian, Henry Louis Gates jr has criticized the theory. While he doesn't condemn it for being non-academic, there's a good description of why it doesn't belong in the halls of academia in an older Slate article:

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_ ... ical_.html

But is fighting against the dumbing down of America academia (which the above theory certainly is) a "taking back of your culture"? Depends on what you mean by that. If you want American professors to teach that divorce and abortion is wrong, that Western civilization is the greatest thing on earth, and that anything questioning that must be considered a dangerous, insidious threat...well...

Being afraid and aggressively unwilling to be presented to other modes of thinking should not be something you engage in, either, StA. The only proper defense against SJW mentality is not to adopt or copy the mentality, it is to reject it and encourage others to do the same. And no, that does not have to include converting them to your political or philosophical beliefs. That is, again, a way of thinking that the SJW's represent. For example, rejecting the theories by any sociologist that came out of the Frankfurter School and painting anyone accepting some of the theories as pureblooded Marxist completely devoted to all aspects of Marxism is as dishonest and hysterical as pretending that anyone accepting any of the words and ideas that ever came from Thomas Jefferson are without any merit because he owned slaves and therefore all his ideas are "Slaverist".

Reject that sort of derp-logic, StA. Simply for your own sake.

You, as a country, have an obvious interest in turning institutions of higher learning back into...well... institutions of higher learning. You need a citizenry that are able to be more than just unreflective drones, but also less than navel-gazing ivory tower intellectuals. Something like critical race theory only belongs in sociology classes as something you spend one lecture on, and that lecture would simply be about presenting the different views and schools of thought there are about race issues - as opposed to being a sermon followed by calls for activism.

Also, demolish all your college and universities' dormitories and force students to live amongst the people. We talk alot today about online bubbles, but the ability to live most of your life isolated in more or less of a physical one, helps reinforce and validate the delusions some of these people have about what the actual, real world live like. Force them to live in it, to engage more with average citizens.

Tl;DR version: Simply increase academic standards to reject activism and you won't even need to worry about culture wars.

The Joe Rogan with him is really good, had my psych professor friend listen, and it made her question a lot of the stuff she teaches

Bill Whittle video that effectively combines the issues of cultural marxism, fake news, and leftist violence.

Can't find anything significant to disagree with, there. Well, except the relationship between your headline and the content of the video. Academia and culture are not really the same thing. You, as an individual and yourself as a member of whatever community, be it Catholic, local, state-wise, Appalachian or whatever are creators of culture every day. Some culture is top-down, some is bottom-up. What I'm saying is: You already own your culture. What's going on in your colleges and universities is not an assault on culture, it's an assault on higher learning, on what should be basic academic standards and intellectual integrity, and an assault on the notion that adults should be treated like adults.

And if you're saying it does impact culture, my response is "wrong way around". Already existing cultural trends impacted academia.

Hysterical, irrational fear of each other is your main national problem. Some shrill baby boomer professor riling up stupid college kids against the use of some innocuous word has no place in academia, but the reason it happens at all, is because people like her live in tiny, isolated social bubbles where you only socialize with those of your "own kind", where you validate each other, and where any dissent means social death. And given that American culture forces you to believe that there are only two choices in everything, because while you may love freedom it apparantly scares the living shit out of you, becoming ostracized from your little village, either means crawling back on your knees and accept Team A, or running off into the woods, ditch your clothes, grow a beard, howl at the moon and pretend to belong to Team B. Who gang up on you and beat you to death with flagpoles, because they're offended that you thought that passing off as them meant acting like a werewolf.

Anyway, the cultural problem is not simply academia. If the only way people generally think they can win an argument, is by painting the opponent as a dangerous extremist, the entire culture is dumbed down. If you win arguments by fear, you get hysteria as the political norm.

Winning back your culture, indeed winning back culture, period, involves rejecting strawmanning because it's strawmanning, rejecting hyperbole because it's hyperbole, rejecting using as a means of persuasion because it is the use of fear. And not simply rejecting leftist hyperbole, strawmanning and fearmongering because it is leftist hyperbole, strawmanning and fearmongering.

Then you will get your culture back as well, because then you will have the peace you need to simply live it. So will be the people on the left, btw, once they realize that misidentifying people as "victims" based on superficiality and feelz was never even a sound or coherent activist ideology.

Bjorn,

This is a very thoughtful post. Thanks for posting it.
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

How many of his family members with fake ID voted??

In testimony provided before the California Senate's Public Safety Committee, Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De Leon (D-Los Angeles) decided to admit that "half of his family" is residing in the United States illegally and with the possession of falsified Social Security Cards and green cards. Lest you think we're exaggerating, here is the exact quote:
