As the Slate article points out, today is also the 14th anniversary of the Columbia accident.

Seems like some have an obsession with race and PC.

Have to say that the accident did make up NASA to improve things as no more Apollo astronauts died (even if Apollo 13 was a close shave). So NASA improved it's performance after that.




Unfortunately with the Shuttle accidents one cannot say the same thing.

The Russian btw. had also an accident with a Kosmonaut in the pure oxygen environment, but in lab testing (not top of rocket).
