Home Renovation
Hopefully, a place to share tips, current projects, etc.
I'm currently taking apart a spare room upstairs, for the impending arrival of twins. Project will include replacing old windows, replacing drywall and ceiling, and re-insulating, and carpet.
Pics coming.
I'm having a hard time getting a good measurement on the old windows, so I've removed the trim and just measured the boxes. Hard part will be the actual sill. I will probably be calling in expert help (gf's dad) for the installation.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Congratulations!
Unfortunately I don't have any skills in this area. That's why we just bought new so I don't have to do anything besides basic shit like hanging chandeliers and TVs

Excellent, the world needs more of us Leos.

Re: Home Renovation
So I've got all of the side walls ripped out now, and the ceiling is next. Bagged and cleared all the trash so far, and replaced one of the 2 windows in there.
I got an estimate during the week for windows, and was quoted over $500 a pop. I managed not to laugh in his face because he was a nice older fella. Went to the local Restore (Habitat for Humanity) today, and scored a perfect double-paned fit for $50.
Joyous times though, because, as always, more problems were uncovered. First, the room is still infested with wasp nests, and I found a lovely little hole in my bedroom ceiling His morning. Turns out a mama squirrel has found a way into there through a bad fascia board (that the gutters attach to). Being a charitable sort, I bought some pepper spray and squirted it up the hole to encourage her to leave.
While looking for her entry point, we found a gaping hole in our chimney as well. This requires a lot of climbing and quickcrete application, along with another 2 hours of daylight.
Funny how it never feels like you'll make progress until it's done.
