The Obama administration unveiled new sanctions against Russia aimed at its top intelligence services and officials in response to Moscow’s alleged use of cyberattacks to interfere with the U.S. election, and in response to what the U.S. said was mistreatment of its officials in Russia.
Without knowing the details/proof yet, if legit, is this appropriate or an overreach?

At least it makes an example for the future.
Admittedly, I have been skeptical of the hacking claims thus far, but perhaps the Trump-Putin honeymoon is already over...

I've been saying that about the Democrat party for a long time...

Yeah, I meant domestic-political overreach, as in "sabotaging the incoming administration's credibility" to some extent.

It's not over. Trump just few days ago praised Putin's insight on a tweet and then was in denial about the hacking yesterday. And I assume Trump won't change his stance... much.
You see Trump starts with US-Russia ties at a low point. Then both leaders want to improve them. Yes, everything looks fine for Trump, case solved. "See, I was right, I and Putin can reason things out" Trump might tweet.
Then Putin does something somewhere that Trump simply cannot tolerate as the US president. And only then is the honeymoon over. And Putin is the winner as US allies are already totally demoralized.
Trump will no doubt confront Mr. Ivan at some point and from time to time, but do it at the time and place of your choosing, America, don't surrender the initiative to the Kremlin and make yourselves look weak and divided in the process, wait until Mr. Ivan stumbles first before you spring your ambush, and only do it if you've got him dead to rights with something actually backing up your rhetoric, so it forces him to back down, if you don't got him dead to rights, just keep your powder dry, and ffs, don't feed the Kremlin's trolls, dummies, that's just playing right into their hands.
Until you catch Mr. Ivan in a jam, and got him dead to rights, and your ducks are in a row to force him to eat crow, Trump's way is the right way; "The Kremlin? What about them? They don't bother us, Big Red White and Blue Machine rolls on, come what may, the Kremlin ain't gettin' in our way, MAGA; nothing can stop us..."
